Raymond: A refreshing change

After so many games in a row against BC and Edmonton, it feels good to be preparing to play a different team. We’re just trying to get back to the basics as we prepare so see some new faces, you know what I mean?

I’m excited, the guys around me are excited and we’re all looking forward to playing a new team.Raymond_091029.jpg

The Roughriders made a move this week, replacing Prechae Rodriguez with Ryan Grice-Mullen. So you’re trading a tall guy for a short speedy guy. I wish the best for Prechae — he’s a good receiver and he’s going to land somewhere — but whoever we line up against, I know we’re going to go out there and do our thing.

We know that going into that stadium and against that crowd, it’s a hostile environment. You’ve definitely got to come in and be ready to play ball because if you come in with your “B” game, you’re not going to come out with a victory. We’ve definitely got to come out with our “A” game and expect to dominate.

For the rookies who have never played at the stadium before, I’m going to tell them this is the game you want to be at. It’s like a Duke-North Carolina basketball game, it’s like a Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins football game. This is the game you want to be at and that you want to play in.

We’ve still got a lot of work to do on defence. We run around, we fly to the ball, we’re getting turnovers . . . but we always can get better. There’s always room for improvement and we’re going to try and do that this weekend. This is another game for us to build on and to try and get to the ultimate goal.
