We’re back at it again. Back with them Eskies, man.
When you play against Edmonton, we don’t know what kind of quarterback we’re getting — a runner or a pocket passer. But both Ricky Ray and Jared Zabransky bring a lot of threats to the game. Zabransky can bring you to the outside and he’s got a decent arm on him. And Ricky? He’s the Mechanic, always.
You know right now, they’re feeling good about their 1-0 season after the bye so we’ve got to come out here and execute our game plan. Hopefully, we’ll ride off into the sunset and make them 1-1.
In their game last week against Saskatchewan, they came out and they were moving the ball downfield. They were doing different things with their quarterbacks — they would bring one guy in and let him get a series or two just trying to get that momentum. We have to mind our P’s and Q’s when they’re doing that switching back and forth with their quarterbacks.
It’d be sweet to be able to make a play like I did in the last game against Edmonton. Especially on Labour Day, to take one to the house and let the crowd go crazy.
We get to the halfway point of the year with this game. It’s the crucial point, you know what I’m saying? It’s going to be crucial to go out and get this win. Then we turn around and play again Friday in Edmonton, so it’s going to be a long week.
Everybody knows what happened the last time these teams played and, what can you say? That’s just Edmonton and Calgary. It’s feisty, scrappy . . . it’s a dogfight out there. But we have to control our emotions and make sure it doesn’t get out of hand and that nobody gets kicked out of the game or takes any penalties.
We know it’s going to be physical, we know there’s going to be trash-talking . . . it’s going to be a typical Edmonton-Calgary game.
