Alabama, my alma mater, is the defending national champion and they’re ranked No. 1 in the pre-season polls. All I can say is that it feels good to be an alumni right now.
A lot of people ask why Alabama has an elephant logo when the team is called the Crimson Tide. I think it comes from back in the day when we were beating up on people so bad, one of the media guys said the other teams were getting rolled on like a crimson tide of elephants or something like that.
I’m not 1,000 per cent sure, but I do think it has something to do with us beating up on people back in the day.
I always talk trash with other guys about the university but now, nobody can say anything to me because of how things are. So now I can talk even more.
I’m going to put a piece of paper up and I’m taking all bets. It doesn’t matter what the schedule is. I do know Daryll Clark, who went to Penn State, is talking trash and we will see them Sept. 11 when Penn State comes down to Alabama. Hopefully, Coach Huff, who also went to Penn State, won’t bench me after we beat them. Hopefully, he’s not that upset about it.
But yeah, it’s going to be a pretty exciting season both here in Calgary and there in Alabama.
