The family and I went home to Washington State for the bye week and it was great. The bye week comes at a great time for us.
It seems like the season so far has just flown by, but when you think about it, it’s been a long time since the start of training camp so it’s nice to have that time off and to get a chance to spend time with your family.
From a physical standpoint, it’s good to get a break from the pounding that your body takes every day in practice and in games. The time away allows your body to heal and now you come back feeling healthy and refreshed and ready for the rest of the season.
Now that we’re back, we want to continue and improve. Even though our record is good, we know we can be better and so we’re coming back with that mindset of building on the positive things we’ve done so far this season and to work on the areas where we need to improve.
We may have been on a four-game winning streak before the bye but I don’t see the break as interrupting our momentum at all. We all know that the season is long and that you have to continue to work hard no matter what. That doesn’t change regardless of when the bye week comes.
It was rewarding for us to have the offence put up those touchdowns in the last game before the break. It was great to see the offence capitalize and convert all the opportunities that the defence has been providing. It was a very good game from that standpoint and it’s something we’re hoping continues.
As far as the offensive line goes, it’s been a pretty smooth transition with the recent return of Dimitri Tsoumpas. We’re obviously familiar with him and he’s familiar with us and it doesn’t take very long to make that adjustment. It’s just a matter of him unlearning all the terminology he had while he was with the Dolphins and then re-learning the terminology and the play calls here. It’s really good to have him back.
And now that the break is over, we’re looking forward to the rest of the season and pursuing our goals.
