Tate: Great to get the touchdowns

There were a lot of comments about my moustache and sideburns on Sunday, but it was just for the night. I don’t think I could have handled it for another day.

I didn’t reveal mine until Sunday when I shaved the rest of my face. I didn’t want to show anyone, it was for Sunday. Not for Thursday, Friday or Saturday.Tate_100819.jpg

It was great on Sunday for us to get the touchdowns to go with the offensive yards and time of possession. That’s what we had been missing earlier this year. We knew that once those came, we were going to be something special. You know, it’s a long season. We’ve only played seven games, so we’ve got 11 more to go. Like I said, it’s a long season but this is offence is capable of doing this.

The further we get into the season, I think the better we’re going to get because we’re going to keep getting these opportunities and Coach Dickenson is going to put us in the best position to score, like he has been doing.

I thought that getting the win on Sunday showed major maturity by our team. Knowing that we had the bye this week, it would have been easy to come out relaxed but we came out and scored on just two plays at the start of the game and the defence played sound the whole game.

That shows the potential of this team. I think the sky’s the limit. It really is. It probably is for all teams, but especially us.

We’ve been able to have some success when the coaches put me in there but it’s not me, it’s the line. Every time I’ve gone in for short yardage, they’ve had a tremendous push. I’m not very big, so it’s easy to get in behind those big guys and try to scoot along. I hope we can just continue that.

Because of the way they’ve been using me, there’s no advance warning about when I’ll be going in and that’s the just the way it is. You’ve just got to learn how to deal with it and not worry about it.

I feel like I’m getting better every week in practice. It’s just about getting reps, really. As a couple, you only get a few reps and you’ve got to make those few reps really count.

I got my first touchdown pass earlier this month at BC and Henry claims he took his time getting up after he got knocked down near the goal-line so that I could go in there and get the score. I don’t know if he’s telling the truth but I’ll take it any day.
