Whenever we win, it feels good. I guess I should say whenever we win, it feels like we played better than we did. I think we left some points on the field. On the bright side, we’re always improving every week. It just may not be obvious all the time.
In the CFL, every game ends up being close. It seems to always come down to the fourth quarter. Sometimes I feel like we don’t make it easy on ourselves. Bottom line is we’re 5-1 and working to get better every week. We’ve got to feel good about where we’re at right now.
The environment here at Empire Field? It was fun. It was a lot of fun. I like the stadium. For being temporary, it’s a very nice facility. I look forward to playing here again. Vancouver is always great. The fans were stomping on the temporary seating and when they do that and all the yelling, I mean, it’s hard to keep that up. So the sound level wasn’t too bad as the game went on.
On the touchdown, I was supposed to go out to the flat but BC covered it pretty well so I turned it upfield. The play kind of turned into a scramble drill and Drew made a great throw. I was lucky enough to hang onto it along the sideline.
At first, I thought it was his first CFL completion, so I was really excited. Then I was told it was only his first touchdown pass. So that took some of the lustre off! I was happy to be a part of it. Drew is a good man.
We’ve got a couple of days off now. We appreciate the big man, Coach Hufnagel for that. I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing over the next few days and enjoy this time to myself. Still, there’s no rest for the wicked and we’ll be back to work on Wednesday.
