You know, BC has a nice receiving corps. They’ve got about four-strong over there. We know that whenever we play BC, we’ve got out hands full.
Like I’ve said in previous weeks, it’s all about coming out with the game plan and executing. Those are the words we’ve been living and dying by.
One of BC’s receivers, Geroy Simon, is one of the better route-runners in this league. People talk about his age, but it doesn’t show on the field. His off-season workouts must keep him on top of things. We know with Geroy, he’s going to come in with a lot of cleverness. It’s almost like facing Copeland when we play Toronto — they’re very similar types of receiver in terms of being clever with their route-running. Whoever’s on Geroy has to come with the mindset to be strong and ready to go because they’re going to be in for a battle the whole game.
The Lions might be 1-4 but they’re a dangerous team because they’re a good team. If you look back at the games they’ve lost, it’s been just a few little things that have cost them. There’s nothing major wrong with that team. We know they’re still a good team and they’re going to come out hungry.
And this is a division game, too, so you know they’d love to start turning things around with a win against Calgary. We may have done well against them the past couple of years but it’s not like we’ve been blowing them out all the time.
It’s always a tough game when we play BC. There’s a friendly rivalry between Wally and Coach Huff and there’s also a rivalry between the players also — Nik and the DBs over there, us DBs and the receivers on their side. It’s always a good game because of the way we match up against those guys.
I’m looking forward to playing in their outdoor stadium. I like playing outdoors. Sometimes playing in a dome, it can get hot and stuffy so this might turn out to be better. Should be a good game.
Each week, we can see that we’re getting a little bit better in each phase of the game. Each week, you can see guys climbing the ladder, climbing and climbing. That’s what we want so that at the end of the season, we can be at the top of the mountain ready to pick that cherry.
