Lewis: Twitter’s all in good fun

The reason I do Twitter is because everyone who follows me knows exactly what I say. I don’t hide behind my words. If I want to say something, I’m going to say it and there’s no reason to retract because I know what I’m saying and I stand behind what I’m saying.

If you follow me, you know the reality. If you don’t follow me, you can read the papers and everything else and get half a quote. But I’m far more entertaining than any paper can be.

I have a lot of Riders fans who follow me and there’s lot of them who show me respect. It’s fun to go back and forth with them. We just have fun with it. I have no malice towards anybody. As Lewis_100804.jpglong as everybody stays respectful, we can have fun. We can go back and forth and we can do things like that. If you want to cross the line and start saying all this other off-the-wall stuff, I don’t have time for it.

Honestly, when I wrote that tweet this week about the BC secondary, I never thought it was going to turn into anything. I never said they did anything illegal. I just made notice that they hit people below the knees and that’s fine. I know it’s legal. Korey Banks said it was fine, and it’s fine. It’s not like I was trying to put anybody down or anything, I’m just saying that’s the way they play.

The worst part was the Geroy stuff when the BC media took half of my quote and didn’t want to quote it all because if they had quoted it all, then there wouldn’t be a story. I understand — they’ve got a job to do. I’m going to help them do their job and leave it at that.

I have no beef with Geroy and I have no beef with Korey Banks. I’m good with them.

The funny thing is that I know Korey. I’ve been going up against him for seven years and he’s a very entertaining guy. I’m an entertaining guy. Hey, it’s a lot of fun to be in this league and to be able to play against players like that. Everybody knows that most people that step on the field with me don’t like me while the game’s going on and I really don’t like them either when the game is on. That rivalry is what makes the game fun. I respect his game and he respects mine, so I’ll leave it at that.

Last year, Tad Kornegay of the Riders and I went back and forth on Twitter. The funny part about Tad is he actually texted me and said, “Hey, let’s do a WWE-style thing.” That’s all that was. We played it up and it was great for the game. I’ll be the villain. It doesn’t bother me, I’ve been there before. But the important thing is I have respect for the players in this league.

Sometimes we do things like that to add some hype to the game, but it’s just for fun. I don’t wish anybody any harm. I’m going to go out and play hard, they’re going to go out and play hard and we’re going to have fun doing it.
