Just one change in the Stampeders’ 46-man lineup today as receiver P.K. Sam comes off the injury list to make his Calgary debut.
The forecast for Hamilton today is sunny with a high of 27C. The humidity is expected to be moderate and there is a zero probability of precipitation.
Calgary’s inactives today are receiver Landan Talley, offensive lineman Godfrey Ellis, defensive lineman Mike Landry and defensive back Taurean Allen.
First quarter
- Stampeders will receive the opening kickoff
- Henry Burris’ first pass of the day is P.K. Sam’s first reception as a member of the Stampeders
- Stamps get a couple of first downs on their first possession but a sack ends the drive
- Marcus Thigpen’s 93-yard punt return puts the Tiger-Cats on the board
- Extra point makes the score 7-0 for Hamilton
- With his first catch of the day, Nik Lewis moves into sole possession of fifth place on the Stampeders’ all-time list with 461 receptions
- Burris find Romby Bryant in the end-zone for a 17-yard touchdown pass
- Rob Maver kicks the extra point to make it 7-7
- Burris now has 200 career touchdown throws
- That TD reception was the first regular-season score for Romby Bryant as a member of the Stampeders
- Tiger-Cats get three first downs on their first possession before the drive stalls
- Sandro DeAngelis is wide right on his field-goal attempt and Hamilton must settle for a single point that gives the Ticats an 8-7 lead
- The first quarter ends with a Burris fumble and a Hamilton recovery of the loose ball
Second quarter
- One play after giving the football away, the Stampeders get it right back as Malik Jackson recovers a Maurice Mann fumble. Milt Collins gets credit for the forced fumble
- That’s Jackson’s second fumble recovery of the season
- Two penalties and two incompletions short-circuits the Stamps’ first possession of the second quarter
- The Tiger-Cats block Burke Dales’ punt attempt and take over possession in Calgary territory
- Hamilton goes nowhere on the possession after the blocked punt thanks in part to a DeVone Claybrooks sack
- Ticats get a 42-yard field goal to extend their lead to 11-7
- Joffrey Reynolds does a lot of good work on a Stampeders drive that culminates in a Rob Maver field goal that cuts the Tiger-Cats’ lead to 11-10
- Stampeders defence forces a second consecutive two-and-out
- The Ticats add a point on a punt single to make the score 12-10 for Hamilton
- Calgary goes two and out and has to give the ball right back
- The Ticats’ Marcus Thigpen adds a receiving major to his earlier punt-return score
- Extra point makes it 19-10 for Hamilton
- The Stamps get a first down into Hamilton territory thanks to a Burris-to-Bryant connection but the drive goes no further
- Calgary’s defence comes up with a two-and-out as Hamilton started deep in its own territory
- Johnny Forzani makes his first CFL reception
- Maver’s second field goal of the game makes it 19-13 for the Ticats
- First half is over
Third quarter
- The Stampeders march the ball on their first possession of the second half, but the drive comes to a halt when Hamilton’s Jason Shivers picks off a Henry Burris pass on the goal-line
- Sandro DeAngelis misses on a 42-yard field goal attempt, which gives the Stamps’ Deon Murphy a chance to return the ball deep into Tiger-Cats territory
- On the first play after the missed field goal return, Burris finds Nik Lewis for a touchdown
- With the extra point by Rob Maver, the Stamps take a 20-19 lead
Fourth quarter
- P.K. Sam makes his fifth catch of the day to start the final quarter
- The Stampeders come up with a great goal-line stand and force the Tiger-Cats to turn the ball over on downs
- Calgary gets some breathing room with three first downs but then they have to punt the ball away with four minutes and change to play in the quarter
- DeAngelis field goal gives the Ticats a 22-20 lead with 1:10 to play
- Rob Maver kicks a 23-yard field goal to get the lead back for the Stamps — 10 seconds to play
- Sandro DeAngelis’ 59-yard field goal try on the final play of the game is blocked
- Stamps win to improve to 2-0
