Insider: Stamps take on the Leos

With Canadian Football League clubs down to a handful of games remaining in the 2009 schedule, the games are getting increasingly important and that’s certainly true of Friday night’s encounter between the Calgary Stampeders and the BC Lions at McMahon Stadium.

The Stamps are one of three clubs tied for top spot in the West Division while the Leos are one win back of Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan. The Eskimos and Roughriders square off on Saturday evening in Edmonton, so all that head-to-head action will have a significant impact in the standings as the four clubs battle for playoff positioning.

This is the second meeting of the season between Calgary and BC — the Stamps were 48-10 winners in Vancouver on July 24. The Lions have improved dramatically in the subsequent two months however, including the addition of former Stamps linebacker JoJuan Armour.
