Thanks to his 393-yard performance at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium on Friday, Henry Burris has passed one of the Canadian Football League’s all-time greats on the passing charts.
Burris’ career total of 30,773 yards vaults him ahead of Hall-of-Famer Sam (The Rifle) Etcheverry (whose Hall of Fame bust is pictured right) and into 11th place on the career passing list. He needs 4,057 more yards to catch up to Dieter Brock and crack the Top 10.
It’s been a record-smashing year for Burris, who this season has already claimed Calgary’s all-time marks for passing yards, attempts and completions. And, with his three touchdown throws on Friday night, Burris is now tied with Doug Flutie for the Stampeders’ all-time lead with 140 scoring passes.
Here are the all-time leading passers in CFL history.
