WARM-UP

The Stampeders are going for the sweep of the traditional early-September home-and-home series against the Eskimos. Calgary won the Labour Day matchup 32-8 at McMahon Stadium to grab a share of first place in the West Division along with Edmonton ans Saskatchewan.

Stampeders’ scratches tonight are defensive lineman Tom Johnson, defensive lineman Charleston Hughes, defensive lineman Justin Phillips and receiver Jermaine Jackson.

FIRST QUARTER

  • Eskimos will get the ball first to start the game
  • Edmonton rolls up four first downs on the game’s first five plays
  • Ricky Ray hits Fred Stamps for an Edmonton touchdown
  • Noel Prefontaine kicks the extra point to make the score 7-0 for Edmonton
  • Calgary goes two and out on its first drive of the night
  • Stamps get the ball right back and Henry Burris scrambles for a first down on the first play of the second drive
  • Nik Lewis extends his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 97
  • Kicker Sandro DeAngelis finds the range from 44 yards to cut the Eskimos’ lead to 7-3
  • Jim Davis records his first sack as a member of the Stampeders
  • Esks are moving as the quarter comes to end. Back-to-back first downs gives the hosts the ball in Stampeders territory

SECOND QUARTER

  • Stamps return man Titus Ryan can’t get the handle on a punt and the Eskimos recover the ball in the end-zone, but Edmonton gets flagged for no-yards
  • Rod Davis picks off a Henry Burris pass and returns it to the Stampeders’ 12-yard line
  • Ricky Ray to Jamaica Rector for a four-yard touchdown pass
  • Extra point makes the score 14-3 in favour of Edmonton
  • Henry Burris continues his big game running the ball — he dashes for 30 more yards
  • Two consecutive passes to Ryan Thelwell, including a 12-yard scoring strike, gives the Stamps their first touchdown of the evening
  • Sandro DeAngelis kicks the extra point to make the score Edmonton 14 Calgary 10
  • Ex-Eskimo Jim Davis picks up his second sack of the evening
  • Calgary’s John Eubanks picks off a Ricky Ray pass
  • Ray fumbles and Jim Davis recovers the loose ball
  • A pass interference against the Eskimos call gives the Stamps a first and goal
  • On the very next play, Burris finds Jeremaine Copeland for a touchdown
  • DeAngelis kicks the extra point and the Stamps lead 17-14
  • That’s the half

THIRD QUARTER

  • The Stamps’ first drive of the second half is snuffed out by a Kelly Malveaux interception
  • Noel Prefontaine kicks a 33-yard field goal for the Eskimos to tie the score at 17-17
  • T.J. Hill makes an interception for the Eskimos. Hill laterals to Maurice Lloyd, who gets the ball to the Calgary six-yard line.
  • Mathieu Bertrand pushes the ball in from one yard out to allow Edmtonon to retake the lead
  • With the Noel Prefontaine extra point, it’s 24-17 for the Eskimos
  • Tristan Jackson returns a Burke Dales punt 63 yards to the Calgary 26-yard line
  • Kamau Peterson drops a sure touchdown pass and the Eskimos have to settle for a Noel Prefontaine field goal that makes the score 27-17 in favour of the Eskimos
  • Sandro DeAngelis kicks a 30-yard field goal to cut Edmonton’s lead to 27-20
  • Kai Ellis gets his hands on the ball after Titus Ryan loses control on a punt return and the Edmonton player returns it for a touchdown
  • With the extra point on the final play of the third quarter, Prefontaine nails the extra point to make the score 34-20 for the Eskimos

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Sandro DeAngelis is wide on a 42-yard field goal attempt and the Stamps settle for a single that makes the score 34-21 in favour of the Eskimos
  • Henry Burris runs the ball in from four yards out to cut the Edmonton lead
  • With the extra point, it’s 34-28 for the Eskimos
  • Jim Davis collects his third sack of the night
  • Burris hits Copeland with 22 seconds to play
  • Critical extra point gives Stamps a 35-34 lead
  • Game’s over — Stamps win
