INSIDER: July 24 milestones

Here are some of the career firsts and milestone moments achieved by Stampeders players during a 48-10 victory over the BC Lions on July 24 at BC Place in Vancouver.

For starters, running back Joffrey Reynolds moved past the great Willie Burden for fourth place on the Stampeders’ all-time list in rushing yards. Thanks to his 131-yard effort against BC, Reynolds now sits at 6,260 yards compared to 6.234 for Wille B.

Only Kelvin Anderson (8,292), Earl Lunsford (6,994) and Lovell Coleman (6,395) sit ahead of Reynolds.

Meanwhile, Jeremaine Copeland caught his 34th and 35th touchdown passes a member of the Stampeders to move into sole possession of ninth place on the franchise’s all-time list. Copeland started the evening in a tie for 10th with Vince Danielsen and one back of Gerry Shaw.

In other noteworthy events . . .

  • Copeland’s two touchdowns receptions gives him four for the season and sole possession of the CFL lead
  • Henry Burris passed the 1,000-yard mark in 2009 passing yards
  • Odell Willis recroded two sacks to boost his season total to five and move into a first-place tie in the league sack race with Winnipeg’s Dorian Smith
  • Fernand Kashama registered his first career sack
  • Jermaine Jackson caught his first CFL touchdown
  • Jackson became the 20th Stamps player to catch a passing touchdown from Burris
  • Sandro DeAngelis, who was already the most accurate kicker in CFL history, was four-for-four in field goal tries and is now 10-for-10 in 2009
