INSIDER: Singh and the o-line

We all knew this season would bring change to the offensive line and that trend was evident Saturday with the release of guard Bobby Singh and retirement of tackle Dave Costa.

Singh failed his physical on Saturday to confirm what coaches and medical staff feared.

"It was a difficult meeting with Bobby," said head coach/GM John Hufnagel. "He has been in this situation before. It came to a point in our medical people’s minds that it was too much of a risk."

Costa retired to become a firefighter.

Because the staff recognized so many o-line uncertainties in the months heading into camp, more imports (Ben Archibald, Jermese Jones, Antonio Hall, Nello Faulk) were brought in than usual and the team drafted two offensive linemen (Jesse Newman and Dimitri Tsoumpas)  in the first round of April’s CFL Canadian Draft. Plenty of depth and solid options remain in camp.

"We needed to give ourselves flexibility because so many different possibilities existed," said Hufnagel.
