The Red and White came away with a 26-16 victory against the BC Lions on Monday in their first exhibition tune-up thanks, in large part, to a run game that saw them collect 135 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. will make his first start for the Stamps and is expected to get up to a half of play on Saturday.

2. Them
The new look Elks enter their first preseason game with a few faces familiar to the Stamps. Long-time Calgary special teams coordinator and assistant head coach Mark Kilam will make his head coaching debut with the Elks this weekend. Veteran pivot Cody Fajardo will get his first taste of action with the Elks after coming over from Montreal in the offseason.

3. Head To Head
The Stamps and Elks met three times last season with Edmonton picking up all three wins. They last played a head-to-head preseason game in 2023. The Stamps came away with a 29-24 victory in that battle.

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: MLB Marquel Lee: Lee will look to solidify his starting spot at middle linebacker on Saturday night. The second-year Stampeder recorded five defensive tackles and three special teams tackles in three games with the Red and White last year.

Elks: QB Cody Fajardo: Fajardo enters the season as a projected backup to Canadian QB Tre Ford who will not be in the lineup for the Elks on Saturday. The former Grey Cup winner is the only QB with snaps in the CFL on the Edmonton depth chart.

7. Quotable

“I’m excited for the opportunity for the team, this organization, to get out here and put on a good show for the fans, and that’s what we plan to do.” – QB Vernon Adams Jr. on playing in his first game with the Stampeders in Saturday’s pre-season tilt with the Elks.
