Stamps Run Past Lions For Preseason Victory

The Stampeders got off on the right foot on Monday afternoon in Langford, B.C. taking down the Lions 26-16 in pre-season action.

Ludovick Choquette, Tiyon Evans and Quincy Vaughn had touchdowns in the victory.

STAT PACK

P.J. Walker – 8-for-16, 77-yards

Ludovick Choquette – six-carries, 44-yards, one touchdown

Ishmael Hyman – three-receptions, 34-yards

Cedric Wilcots II – four tackles, one sack

The Lions struck on their first drive of the game on a 19-yard pass for a touchdown. They missed the extra point to make the score 6-0.

That would be all the scoring in the first quarter.

The Stamps answered early in the second with a seven-play drive that was finished off with a Quincy Vaughn one-yard quarterback plunge to give Calgary the 7-6 lead.

P.J. Walker put together a strong drive through the air with under two-minutes to go, leading to a 34-yard field-goal from Rene Paredes to make the score 10-6 with 1:21 to go until halftime.

That would be the score after two quarters of play.

Paredes, who turned 40 four days ago, crushed a 52-yard field-goal to kick off the scoring in the second-half and make the score 13-6 with 9:44 remaining in the third-quarter.

Stampeders seventh-round pick, Max von Muehldorfer, jumped on a fumbled exchange in the Lions backfield but Calgary turned the ball over on an interception on the very next play to give the Lions the ball back with just over six-minutes to go in the third-quarter.

The Lions took advantage of the turnover with two quick passes to set them up for a five-yard touchdown pass to even the game, 13-13 with 3:33 remaining in the quarter.

The Stampeders quickly answered with a major of their own. Terrell Vaughn returned the kickoff 41-yards to the Lions 45. Shortly after, Ludovick Choquette took a 30-yard rush to the house to make it 20-13.

That was the score heading into the final quarter.

Von Muehldorfer came up with a huge sack forcing a Lions field-goal with 3:21 remaining to make the score 20-16.

The Stampeders did well to drive the field and kill the clock and were rewarded with a late touchdown as Tiyon Evans ran in the major to make the final score 26-16.
