It felt pretty good to get out there. I just enjoy being out there with my teammates and getting into the heat of the moment. I love the game of football and it was good to be out on the field again after missing some time last year.
I can honestly say the only thing I felt when I got that first sack was this cut because I bit my lip. I was kind of stung for a second. But it felt good to get that first sack.
It was the first game of the season — now we know how good we have to be to beat a good team. It was an average game for us . . . not even average, it was below-average. We were really lucky to win that game. All I can say is that we all have a lot of work to do and a lot of improvement to make.
We had a lot of people make big plays, man. I was walking up the sideline and I was telling the whole defence: “Someone has to make a big play. Somebody do something big.” The next drive, Keon Raymond picks off the ball and runs it back for a touchdown and Jeff Fuller had an awesome game with some big-time catches — circus catches, really. That just speaks for the team. We have a lot of players on this team who just know what it takes to win a game and will sell out to win.
A win like that just shows to the rest of the league that we’re not going to give up at anytime in the game. We’re going to fight all the way to the end, until the last second ticks off the clock.
