We’ve been in different situations all season and all we wanted to do is play our defence. Nobody was panicking at the end of the game.
We knew the situation was close and nobody panicked. I don’t know what else to say — we made big plays when it counted and we’re champions.
I don’t have any kids but I imagine one day it will feel somewhat similar to how I felt Sunday night. Right now, this is the greatest moment of my life to go ahead and end this year with 17 wins and become a champion. I’m happy to be a part of this.
This has been something that has been in the making. Specifically with myself when I’ve been out, seasons at a time, guys like Junior Turner and Freddie Bishop have stepped in and now all together, we’ve played unreal amounts of time and there is no dropoff of play when any one of us rotates in. Every single one of us up front made big plays and again, I’ll always finish with “We’re champions.”
Rich Stubler, in 44 years of coaching, there is nothing he hasn’t seen.
He asked us to win a Grey Cup for him because he just had a new grandbaby and he gives his rings to each of his grandchildren and so now this grandchild has one and we’re all proud of Stubes.
Leave our foot on their throat and not give up the big play. We just wanted to play Stampeder football.
One of the last series of the game with Hamilton threatening, we had some great pressure.
Simp and I had a play called and we’d been running it all week, actually for a few weeks now, and we knew right away when we got that play call, we’d been executing it in practice all week. I looked around and I think somebody got in Zach Collaros’ face first and I got my hand out there on him and Lemon helped clean it up as well. So if that’s the play that helped us secure the game, then that’s what it is but there were lots of other plays and now we can walk away as champions.
I have so much faith in everybody out on that field and it held true and now We’re Champions!
