We did it! And man, does it feels good.

We know the talk that’s been going on. We know what people have been saying. A 15-3 season is a great but we knew it would mean nothing if we didn’t get over Sunday’s hurdle. It’s a great feeling to get over this hurdle. We got over this hurdle, but we’re far from done.

We still have a lot of work to do and we’re ready to make sure we achieve our ultimate goal. What will make this season is winning the Grey Cup, simple as that. When the season started, we never made it a point to get to the Grey Cup. That’s not our goal. Our goal is simple — we want to win it. The Western Final was just the first step. 

This win was extremely special. It really means a lot to get to share this with my teammates. 

This is a great moment no doubt, we’re going to enjoy it for a minute. But my eyes are open today and we’re just thinking  about 102, that’s our prize.

How did we get here? It just came down to what we’ve been doing all year. We just played football. This was probably one of the most complete games as a team for us. It couldn’t have come at a better time; it’s important to carry this forward though. 

As a defence, we take a ton of pride in what we do. All year, our mentality has been bend but don’t break. We put that mentality to work again today.

As a group, we know we still have work to do. The third quarter reminded us that we can’t take any plays off. As a defence, we still gave up a few plays I don’t think we should have but as a team, we played well. As a team, we were focused. It was a good team win.

Coming into this game as a team, we knew dwelling on last year wasn’t going to do us any good. I don’t think last year was ever a factor but getting off to an early start was definitely a priority for us. Once we got off to an early start, we knew it was time to go and play ball.

This is 2014, this is the Year of the Horse. Last year was last year. With a win like tonight, it’s apparent that we’ve got a different group of guys than last year. These guys were definitely ready to play ball.

One more game to go. One more team to get through. Congratulations to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but I hope they know they’ve got a game coming. We will be ready, you can count on that.
