Price: We won and we’re excited

David Moll

BC is a great team with a tough defence. We knew going in that tonight was going to be a tight game.

It wasn’t as high-scoring as some games and, at points, wasn’t the prettiest but we have a saying in sports — a win is a win is a win. For us, it’s just another “W’ in the win column, no matter how it looked on the scoreboard. We won and we’re excited.

Things for the offence started off a little slow again and we were looking for our rhythm. However, we did what we had to do and we just kept plugging away.

We kind of wore BC down in the second half with the run game, which was huge for us, so credit goes to the o-line and Jon Cornish for running so hard.

At times when things aren’t going the way you want, frustration can set in but we didn’t allow that to happen. We just had to stay together. We know it’s a long game and we know it only takes a play here or a play there just to get this thing going.

As an offence, we give so much credit to the defence for keeping us in there and holding it down while we are struggling like that. It’s a great team win. We just learned, again, to stick together.

I was glad to have a good game, too, during a season that has been challenging for me offensively. I actually felt like I could do a little more but I got my hands on a couple of passes.

My best catch of the night was actually off a simple “go route.” I guess they didn’t really pay me any attention and Drew found me streaking down the sideline.

A lot of the guys were telling me I should have just kept running and not try to cut back but I felt like the BC defender, J.R. LaRose, had the angle on me. So I tried to cut it back and then had to cut it back again and again before being tackled. But it felt good to make that play.

Now I just want to keep getting better every week and just make defences have to respect me, play me and have to pay attention to me.

That’s going to open things up for other people on the offence. I just want to build on this one, especially since we have the Roughriders next week, which is going to be a big game.

Going into this week, we have to get right down to business. We just have to prepare hard, practice hard and just be ready.

It’s going to be up in Mosaic, which is always tough going up against the Riders and their fans the Melon-Heads.

So we have to get healthy and heal up because it’s a quick turnaround with the short week so we have to go in prepared and make the plays to win the game.
