Purolator Tackle Hunger is back

The Calgary Stampeders are once again pleased to team up with Purolator Inc. to play host to the annual Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive in support of the Calgary Food Bank.

The food drive will be held during the Stampeders’ Aug. 1 game against the BC Lions at McMahon Stadium and fans can take part by bringing non-perishable food items or making cash donations to volunteers stationed at the stadium gates. In return, fans will have the opportunity to receive a digital photo with the Grey Cup and enter to win a signed Charleston Hughes jersey. All proceeds from the food drive will support the Calgary Food Bank.

Last season, the generosity of Stamps fans resulted in a record total of 157,100 pounds of food being collected for the Calgary Food Bank.

“Stampeders fans have an impressive track record when it comes to supporting the Purolator Tackle Hunger program,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “We thank them for their past, present and future support of the important work being done by the Calgary Food Bank.”

“The Purolator Tackle Hunger program is a great initiative and I’m proud to be involved,” said Hughes. “Stamps fans have always answered the call when they’ve had the opportunity to help those in need in our community and I’m confident they’ll come through again.”

New this year, fans can enter to win a pair of tickets to an upcoming Stampeders home game by following Purolator on Twitter @PurolatorInc and tweeting their photo with the Grey Cup using the hashtag #TackleHunger

In addition to the food drive, each time a CFL quarterback gets sacked throughout the 2014 regular season, Purolator will donate the equivalent of the quarterback’s weight in food to the CFL hometown’s food bank.
