The Calgary Stampeders take on the BC Lions in Week 6 action this Friday night at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
The Stamps are the last remaining unbeaten team in the CFL this season after defeating the previously undefeated Edmonton Eskimos 26-22 last week at Commonwealth Stadium. It’s the 11th time in franchise history — and the first time since 1996 — the Stamps have started a season 4-0.
The Lions are 2-3 after dropping a 23-6 decision at home to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week.
Calgary and BC met four times in 2013 with each team winning twice on home turf. The Stamps won the McMahon Stadium meetings 44-32 on June 28 and 40-26 on Oct. 11.
The game marks the return of Kevin Glenn to Calgary, who made the majority of starts at quarterback for the Stamps during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Glenn’s departure to Ottawa in the expansion draft during the off-season — the RedBlacks later traded the veteran pivot to BC — opened the door for Bo Levi Mitchell to take over as Calgary’s starter. Mitchell leads the CFL with a 104.8 QB rating and is second in the league with seven touchdown passes.
Friday is also the Stampeders’ annual Purolator Tackle Hunger game with non-perishable food items and cash donations being accepted on behalf of the Calgary Food Bank. Stamps fans have set a new event record for contributions in each of the past two years.
