I had a chance to be a bigger part of the game plan today. There were a few more passes thrown my way and I had an opportunity to contribute offensively in this game.
Mostly, it was just a lot of fun being a part of the game. We had a great team win.
The offence didn’t get off to a quick start and special teams had some struggles, but the defence had our back the whole way through and we ended up coming through with a big one in the end.
It’s a long season. We don’t have too many rookies out there so we have lots of guys who understand there are going to be some downs in a season and in a game. You kind of just have to battle through it, keep doing what you do and know that your opportunity will come.
On defence, Micah Johnson was huge for us in the last three minutes. He’s been battling some injuries so it was really nice to see him have the game that he did. It was absolutely huge for us but, for him personally, I’m very happy to see him have the success that he had.
It’s so important to be strong at the end. Huff preaches it every week and this week especially. We knew it was going to come down to the end. Hamilton is a great team and we knew that we were going to have to put four quarters together. When it came down to that, it was real tight and we knew it was going to finish tight, so we had to make a couple plays in the fourth quarter to win.
