McDaniel: Reaching 1,000 yards

David Moll

Getting 1,000 yards for the first time in my career felt good, especially on the play it happened on. We needed a big play, we were struggling and to get a big play like that — a spark like that — it was huge.

The win was way bigger though. I wouldn’t care about the milestone if we didn’t get that win.

One thing about football; you can’t talk this game, you’ve got to put your pads on and play it.

We don’t talk. We’re a confident group but we’re not cocky. You can’t say the same for them over there. We had a terrible first half on offence. Defence played a hell of a game and kept us in it.

We knew if we kept plugging away on offence that we would come out with the “W”.

We have a lot of veterans; we have a lot of guys who’ve been in the fire before and it’s a 60-minute game. We played probably our worst half of football and the defence only gave up 15 points off four turnovers. So we knew if we kept plugging away good things were going to happen, and that’s what happened.

Securing the West final, I think it’s big. The West is a tough conference.

That semi-final game is going to be a tough one, but the good thing is we clinched first, but we know we’ve got a lot of work to do.

That’s the thing about this group — we’re going put in the work to get to the ultimate goal and that’s the Grey Cup.
