Tonight, you basically saw two heavyweights going at it. Toronto’s a great team. We played hard — unfortunately, we had a few penalties.
Coach Huff prides us on playing Stampeders football but when you delay drives like that, you’re going to make it hard on yourself to march the field.
We hurt ourselves on a few drives, but it is what it is. We have to be ready for next week.
We have had to plug and play players at all positions this year and still had success. It’s a long football season and, unfortunately, there are injuries and stuff like that. It’s a part of the game.
Our coach prides us on being prepared for every game, if it just so happens that a guy goes down, someone else comes in and we reload. We didn’t miss a beat all season, really.
Toronto wasn’t giving us anything we weren’t prepared for. Unfortunately, it came down to the last play of the game, one bad bounce, and we were on the wrong side of the ball.
That last play — the onside punt — was a bit wild. That’s a play we practise a little bit, but you never think you are going to have to do it. But we did, and it was just one bounce.
This week, I think that we are going to go back, check the film and see what we can improve on. This is just going to make us hungrier as a team. We have to get back onto a winning streak.
