We knew tonight was going to be a grind. Hamilton played great and our offence sputtered for most of the game. We got field goals, which are good, but we needed touchdowns.
We have to give it up to our defence. Again, they made plays and kept us in the game all throughout. We knew if we stuck with our game plan, we would find a way to win and that’s what we did.
In the third quarter, I got all fired up because I was angry for dropping that first touchdown pass. I just took my eyes off it — that’s not me; I’m too good for that.
I felt like when the ball came to me, I just wanted to go out there and make plays. If I had scored that first touchdown, the game wouldn’t have been that close. I just wanted to make up for the play because that was a big drop and that’s not what I do.
I think tonight’s game shows our character as a team. Our defence had our back. Even though the offence struggled, guys weren’t on the sidelines pointing fingers at each other — we just found a way to get it done.
It says a lot about the strength of this team. We love playing for each other.
We know next game is going to be a dogfight. We beat Toronto at home and they are going to come in here wanting revenge. We will have to find another way to win, make plays early so that it doesn’t have to come down to the fourth quarter.
