I have so much respect for what Rene Paredes does as the kicker for our team. Being consistent is our job, but what he’s done is special. It’s a CFL record now.
This is the 101st year this CFL game has been played. Just to put it in perspective, this is the top record now; a once-in-a-century mark and I couldn’t be happier for him.
You could kind of feel the pressure building for him when he was getting closer to the record. People kept asking him about it and so each kick became that much more important.
But as you see, nothing phases him. He calm as ever, as always really.
He deserves this. He works really hard.
Mentally he has the game down and I’m really happy for him. It couldn’t happen to someone more deserving.

There are some things about Rene I find so impressive. He’s unflappable. Nothing upsets him. He doesn’t allow distractions to get into his head. He’s very task-oriented in the way he thinks and it’s been very beneficial for me to have him around. I’ve learned a lot from him especially the mental approach he takes to the game; it’s well beyond his years especially being so young.
This is a great way to go into the bye week.
I’m sure he wanted to get this done before the bye because he didn’t want this sitting over his head for too long.
But to help the team go out on a winning note — especially doing it against the team that first cut him — there’s a lot of good things you could say about the way he went about things tonight.
Again, I’m just so proud of him.
